Experiencing Servant Leadership from Within

Co-Serve’s Education through Business Immersion Program (or EBI Program) wrapped up at the end of August in Oregon. In this program, Adiya, Asya, Karina and Polina, all students from Kazakhstan, have been experiencing Servant Leadership from within – within a family and within a business or organization that lives by Servant Leadership values. Pat Mitchell, EPI Program Director, shared, “We are so very thankful to our three workplace hosts, Foster & Associates CPAs, Pacific Rim Sash & Door, and SnowCap Community Charities, which gave these students three weeks of experiences of serving and being served inside these communities. We are immensely grateful for our host families: Don & Debbie Finkle, Doug & Lourie Hilken, and Russ & Dee Oelfke. Through these families, the students experienced servant leadership by becoming part of a loving and serving family. We are also thankful for the support and involvement of Southwest Bible Church. During EBI, the students were able to participate in a number of the church’s activities – including an International Day. During this event, the students represented Kazakhstan, where they performed a traditional Kazakh dance and prepared and served about 800 samples of Sorpa, a Kazakh meat soup, to those attending!”
